There’s a report that estimates there are 1.8 billion internet users in the world. Do you know how many people in the Philippines are connecting to the internet?
According to the report, there are 29.7 million internet users in the Philippines, out of a total estimated population of 99.9 million, which means there is room for growth.
Check out Royal Pingdom’s The top 20 countries on the Internet, and what the future might bring and you will see that China, India, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, and Vietnam have a lot of growth potential.
This is based on internet penetration, though, and does not yet take into consideration the economic environment of those different countries.
Afterall, if economic conditions falter and a country’s population continues to grow much faster than the number of internet users in that country, will we still say that there is still a lot of growth potential?
Perhaps. But only if you can identify the source of economic growth needed to improve the earning capability of people to the point that they will find the time and the reason to actually use the internet.
