Again? Looks like Blackberry messaging and web services are being suspended. This time, in the UAE…
In United Arab Emirates to suspend BlackBerry messaging and web services amid legal dispute we read:
Analysts and activists say that makes it harder for authorities to monitor what users are saying or doing, renewing questions about the UAE’s efforts to control the flow of information in the conservative country that is home to the Gulf business capital Dubai and the oil-rich emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The planned suspension is scheduled starting October 11, 2010.
If the Blackberry devices or services get modified to accede to the wishes of the security people of various countries such as India or the UAE and end up making the Blackberry “less secure”, then IT professionals will have to review their policy involving the transmission of confidential data over secure channels.
