Would you like to blog and get the chance to win US$100? It’s easy! Join the DigitalFilipino Talks Blog Contest of Janette Toral today. Here are the details…
Here are the main points of Be Part of the Conversation: DigitalFilipino Talks Blog Contest:
Here are the mechanics:
1. Blog about a DigitalFilipino Talks episode and add your insight.
2. The said blog post needs to have the DigitalFilipino Talks video embedded and link to it, comments from readers, and a Facebook Like button.
3. Submit the url of your blog entry to the page of the video you have chosen to feature. Cut-off for submission is before midnight, Monday to Friday.
Where can you find the Digital Filipino Talks videos?
You’ll find it at http://digitalfilipinocom.ning.com/video
How do you embed a video?
First, go to the page of the video you want. For example, Improving the Philippines Broadband Infrastructure (Why is the Internet slow today?)
When you get to the video page, click on the PLAY button (rightward-pointing triangle found on the lower lefthand corner of the video screen).
Next, place your mouse over the video, and look at the right edge of the video window.
Then, click on the square that looks like </>EMBED
A code will appear in the middle of screen. Please click on the Copy Embed Code button.
Here’s an example of what the code will look like:
<iframe src=”http://player.vimeo.com/video/20048866″ width=”400″ height=”225″ frameborder=”0″></iframe><p><a href=”http://vimeo.com/20048866″>Improving the Philippines Broadband Infrastructure (Why is the Internet slow today?)</a> from <a href=”http://vimeo.com/janette”>Janette Toral</a> on <a href=”http://vimeo.com”>Vimeo</a>.</p>
When you Edit/Paste that code into your blog post, you’ll see something that looks like this:
Improving the Philippines Broadband Infrastructure (Why is the Internet slow today?) from Janette Toral on Vimeo.
As you can see from above, there’s a wonderful video (thanks to the video expertise of Buddy Gancenia) plus a link to the video.
How do you get comments from readers?
One way is to ask your friends in Twitter and Facebook to visit your blog post and leave a comment. You can also email your mailing list subscribers and invite them to watch the video (especially if it will be useful to them) and leave comments.
How do you put a Facebook like button?
If you’re using WordPress, then please see the tutorial on How To Add Facebook Like Button To WordPress Posts
If you’re not using WordPress, or if you don’t like to edit some of the theme files of WordPress, you can use the code below.
