The Tony award-winning musical Hairspray will be staged by Atlantis Productions here in Manila from November to December 2008. Hairspray, set in the 1960s, is about Tracy Turnblad, ” a big girl with big hair with a passion for dance.”

I was born in the late 1960s and I remember my mom’s big hair at that time. I would watch her as she had her hair fixed and teased (did I spell it correctly?) and I hovered around as I saw her squint her eyes and cover her ears as her hair was being sprayed even as the strong odor assaulted my nose.
