Looks like the convenience of paying via your cell phone is spreading from Japan and South Korea, to the United States and the UK.
For example, Texas will enjoy NFC payments, and UK Mobile Payment Technology is currently being developed.
In both countries, the launch target is in early 2012, which could be as just 6 months away.
I wonder when this will be done on a wide-scale in the Philippines. Imagine what a boon that would be for marketers when Filipinos simply wave their cell phones near an NFC reader when buying food or even MRT tickets.
If you look around the country, you’ll probably find more people carrying cellphones than wallets. And while some subscribers would rather have cellphone loads rather than cash in their wallet for food, the option of buying high impulse consumer goods simply by waving your cellphone can prove to be quite tempting.
