For the casual listener, music is something you listen to. But did you know that music also has healing properties?
I was surprised to find out that music is used in therapy sessions for children as well as for older people. There’s play therapy as well as Alzheimer’s therapy.
The main goal of music therapy is to transform negative behavior into positive behavior.
This is achieved by helping people alleviate pain, rehabilitate their physical condition, manage stress, promote verbal and non-verbal communication as well as emotional expression, and facilitate social interaction.
I hope to get to know more about Celeste S. Sanchez, a music therapist in the Philippines and Director of Music Therapy Philippines.
