Been experiencing what seems like “choosy” web site connection with SkyBroadband…
For example, YouTube.com seems quite speedy, while Facebook.com and various marketing websites seem slower than a turtle with an ingrown toenail. (Hi, Jimmy Gil Live!)
Sometimes, the connection would time out and webpages would appear incomplete.
I did a ping test (C> ping 114.108.192.32 -t) and saw that the response times were quite fast, which means we’re able to connect to the SkyCable network with no problems.
So does this mean the connection between SkyBroadband and external websites is the issue?
Anyway, we’re not alone. A quick check of the @SkyServes Twitter account shows that some subscribers are relying on their mobile internet subscriptions because they’re unable to use Sky to log into Twitter (among other websites).
The Lesson: You need a back-up internet broadband connection.
For example, there’s Sun Cellular’s Sun Broadband Wiress (SBW), Smart BRO, and Globe Tattoo.
It’s already a given that some internet service providers (ISPs) will have less than speedy connections on certain days, so it pays to invest in having back-up providers.
