Stef dela Cruz built a blog at Blogspot (Blogger), and then later started using a custom domain. After making that move, it seemed that Google no would no longer index her blog’s latest posts. Here’s what you can do about it, when this same thing happens to your blogs…
First of all, Stef’s Life and Fever blog used to be at http://lifeandfever.blogspot.com but now you can access it via the custom domain LifeAndFever.com
A quick check of the domain registry shows that LifeAndFever.com was registered last July 26, 2011 – what’s not known yet, however, is when Stef shifted from a blogspot subdomain name to her custom domain name.
Usually, when you have been blogging at a blogspot.com address for quite some time, and then you later shift to a dot com name, it will take time for Google to recognize or acknowledge your old blog’s new website address.
Admittedly, if the shift was made way back in July, then yes, it would be cause for concern if up to now, September 3, the search engines were still not indexing the blog’s latest posts.
Here’s What You Can Do
You’ll need to promote your blog (and its new domain name) more.
You can also join the Pinoy Bloggers group in Facebook, where your fellow Filipino bloggers can help you spread the word about your blog.
For example, your kababayan bloggers can quickly write about your Prosure Fest: Unite Against Cancer article, and help inspire more people to support those who are battling breast cancer, for example.
So it’s hitting two birds with one stone: You open people’s eyes to important issues such as cancer, and at the same time you’re able to help a fellow blogger.
By the way, Stef dela Cruz is, according to her blog, a physician, writer, and pet lover.
Speaking of writing, a lot of people interested in internet marketing tend to say: “But I’m not a writer!”
In the process, they stop themselves from blogging, and eventually miss out on the opportunities offered by online marketing.
Never fear, though, because you can learn something from Stef’s How To Become A Writer, where she offers 5 tips.
For me, the most important tip is the fifth: Finally, write your first piece.
That’s what brings you success especially in the realm of online marketing.
You need to take action. You need to publish your first blog post. You have to create something.
Yes, even if it’s scary.
Sa umpisa lang po yun.
And yes, even if you’re your worst critic.
Kailangan pong maging makapal ang mukha.
People keep asking me: “What will I blog about?”
Well, write about anything.
Go out and help people who are searching for solutions.
Before you know it, you’ll have a useful and helpful 450-word blog post. Fast and easy.
So go and check out the Life and Fever blog of Stef dela Cruz, and start blogging today! 🙂
