Was searching for some Tagalog lessons in YouTube, when I stumbled upon the “Tagalog Word of the Week” by Julia and Alex of USC Troy Philippines. I like the way they sound so Pinoy… even if they’re based in California.
Sometimes, you’ll hear the difference in their accent. But oftentimes, you’ll agree that they sound as if they’re based here in Manila. I wonder if Julia Reyes grew up here in the Philippines…
Anyway, here’s Tagalog WOW: Week 1: T’s and P’s for TP (Uploaded to YouTube by USCTroyPhi)
Among the Tagalog words mentioned in the video are:
Tara – Let’s go!
Telebabad – To hog the phone.
Talaga – Really?
Torpe – Guy who’s too tongue-tied or too shy to speak to a woman.
Pakipot – Woman who’s playing hard to get.
Patay na patay – Obsessed
Pasyal – Go around with friends (or family).
Pasalubong – Gifts/souvenirs brought to you by people who are coming back from a trip (or from another country).
Pikon – To get irritated or annoyed easily; when you can’t take a joke.
Puso – Heart
I hope you had fun picking up a number of Tagalog words and phrases. 🙂
