Here are some tips on how to win a Starbucks Planner writing contest:
1. Tell a story. A real one. Yes, one that involves you someone you know.
2. Find an angle. One that’s interesting. Like a gossipy or voyeuristic peek into your life.
3. Cliffhanger. Make the reader want to know what’s going to happen next.
4. Closure. Promise this to your readers. Complete your story… after you win the planner! 😉
Here’s an example:
My Starbucks 3rd Place is in Robinsons Galleria. I like staying outside the store actually (after buying a frappe to go), because the seats closest to my soulmate are usually occupied.
I would enjoy my drink while having a slice of Mrs. Polly’s Chocolate Cake. Tried to read, but always got distracted by… you know.
Strange. I’m loyal to a store, but I’m outside. Outside, looking in; hoping to catch an unoccupied seat.
Then one afternoon, it happens…
