Xavier School has a page in Facebook…
You’ll find it at http://www.facebook.com/xavierschool
It’s good to see that more organizations or schools are setting up their Facebook Fan Pages. Or “Like” Pages. Or whatever it is you wish to call those pages.
This means that more people are recognizing the fact that Facebook is one of the top destinations on the web today. In some cases, folks will spend more time in Facebook than in their email account, because that’s where they get to connect and communicate with friends, family, and even colleagues or co-workers.
On a side note, The Children’s Library is also on Facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/TheChildrensLibrary
It used to be a long URL, but you can easily shorten the web address once your page has at least 25 fans (or 25 Facebook users who have “liked” your page).
Anyway, getting back to Xavier School, they have also redesigned their blog at http://w4.xs.edu.ph
If you visit the Xavier School Facebook page, however, you’ll find some of the blog post entries displayed. That’s a strategy that people interested in social media may wish to consider:
Have a Blog + Facebook page.
Not everyone likes surfing around and visiting blogs, and not everyone likes to hang around in Facebook. By publishing in many places (i.e., website or blog, Facebook, Twitter), and having these different places cross-publish each other’s content, you can reach more people no matter where they go online.
Congratulations to Xavier School and The Children’s Library for connecting with more people online via blogs and Facebook.
I hope other schools follow suit. 🙂
