Hello again, PinoyBizNow.com friends, and welcome to another PBN Training module about Twitter Marketing.
This is part of the on-going internet marketing tutorial series delivered via email, which you signed up for.
If you recall in the First Things First article, you need the following:
- GMail account
- Square Photo
- Blog, preferably at your own domain name dot com
Now it’s time to sign-up for your Twitter account. ๐
Step 1: Visit http://www.twitter.com/signup
Fill-up the form that you see there, and please take note of the following:
- Full Name – More people will connect with you if you use your real name.
- Username – It helps to brand yourself, so please use your full name (small letter, no spaces). For example, manuelviloria.
- Password – Please use a password that you don’t use in other websites. Think of your own Twitter-only password.
(TIP: A strong password has small letters, big letters, and a number. For example, piano7Stool.) - Email – This is why I suggested in the previous tutorial that you set-up a separate GMail account.
Okay… the next step is to click on the Create My Account button.
Twitter will then suggest topics that you might be interested in. For example, you might be interested in BOOKS (https://twitter.com/find_sources/suggestions/books).
You will then see a list of people on Twitter who are also interested in books. Perhaps you will “follow” them.
For now, however, please click on the Next Step: Friends button.
You’ll then be asked to enter your GMail password. Please SKIP this.
Simply click on the Next Step Others button.
You’ll then be asked “Who are you looking for?”
Again, SKIP this and just click on the Next Step: You’re Done! button.
Congratulations! You’re one step closer to having a Twitter account. ๐
Step 2: In the “What’s Happening?” box, type in what you’re doing or what’s happening in your life, then click on the Update button.
(Here’s an example of a “what’s happening” statement you can type: Am learning how to use Twitter!)
Step 3: Visit http://twitter.com/pinoybiznow and click on the Follow button.
[Now you know how to “follow” a person in Twitter. Please resist the temptation to follow hundreds of people. And before following others, please add more interesting updates to your Twitter account first.]
Step 4: Please check your GMail inbox for the Twitter Confirmation Letter. Open that message and click on the confirmation link inside, so that Twitter will know your email address is valid.
That’s it for now. Experiment and have fun with Twitter. Add more updates to your “What’s happening?” box (not more than 20 updates per day, please).
In a future tutorial, you’ll see how other people are able to attract more followers in Twitter.
