Had merienda at Ima, and got to chat about diabetes as well as second leases on life.
Charice Pempengco (not Pempengko)
She’s famous. She’s Filipina. She’s known by her first name — Charice.
Here’s Charice singing “The Prayer” with Andrea Bocelli in Tuscany.
DUETTO CHARICE BOCELLI “THE PRAYER” TEATRO DEL SILENZIO 2008
And here is Charice with Oprah, where they talk about San Pedro, Laguna and the early childhood memories of a young woman who has been told that she’s not good enough, or that she’s not pretty enough, yet continues to hope and strive to fulfill all her dreams…
WordPress Design and Child Themes
Sometimes, we tinker around with various WordPress themes, making adjustments here and there. And before we know, we have modified the original .PHP files so much, that we’re unable to get back to how they were before.
An ideal approach is to create a copy of that theme, and modify the copy instead of the original. The thing is, if you simply copy the files, when you open WordPress and choose the theme to edit you’ll feel confused.
You will see two identical themes, and you won’t know if you’re editing the original or the second copy.
And that’s where you need to read How to make a “child theme” for WordPress. A pictorial introduction for beginners (I like the simplicity of that blog’s permalinks… no obsession over SEO). 🙂
PLDT myDSL Selective Browsing
For some reason, PLDT myDSL is once again exhibiting signs of selective browsing. Unlike a previous entry (PLDT myDSL and Google Slowdown), Google is now accessible (while Twitter and Plurk are not).
That’s why you need to host your websites with different providers, so that you can still blog even if your ISP exhibits signs of “selective browsing” now and then.
4th Philippine KOMIKON
The 4th Philippine KOMIKON will be held at the Bahay ng Alumni (R. Magsaysay Avenue, UP Diliman) on November 22, 2008 (Saturday). Everyone is going green. Even Philippine comics. 😉
The first time I read Wasted, I wondered who the artist was. I wondered what he was thinking when he drew those panels. I never thought (back then), that Architect Gerry Alanguilan would turn out to be one of the, if not, the funniest Pinoy vlogger around.
Ah, the things you learn everyday. 🙂
What’s Up With Nuffnang?
First of all, it’s good to be back online (thank you PLDT myDSL). Okay… Nuffnang Philippines launched several days ago, and if you’ve seen any ads (not house ads of Nuffnang) in the various Philippine blogs participating in this ad network, please let me know.
So far, all I’ve seen are banners promoting Nuffnang.
The come on is quite appealing: Even if you just have 20 visitors a day, Nuffnang will accept you. Of course, lots of Pinoy blogs joined. I have yet to see “real” ads, though. Who knows? Perhaps you have seen advertisers willing to try the Nuffnang Philippines network.
PLDT myDSL and Google Slowdown
I don’t know what’s going on, but lately access to Google and its related services has been slowing to a crawl via PLDT myDSL. Other sites don’t appear as quickly as they used to, but they still appear much faster than Google.com or even GMail.
It’s been two days now, and I hope PLDT improves its internet broadband service.
